  • 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 can (15 oz) pinto beans, drained and rinsed
  • 6 slices thick-cut bacon
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • ½ cup brown sugar

Instructions

  1. In a large pot over medium heat, cook the bacon until crispy. Remove from pot and let cool on paper towels; retain drippings.
  2. Sauté the diced onion in the bacon drippings until translucent (about 5 minutes). Add minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute.
  3. Stir in the drained kidney and pinto beans; mix well.
  4. Add BBQ sauce and brown sugar; stir until beans are well coated.
  5. Simmer over low heat for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Serve warm, garnished with chopped green onions or parsley if desired.
