- 1 tbsp sugar
- 2 tsp salt
- ½ cup baking soda (for boiling)
- 4 tbsp melted butter (for brushing)
- 1 egg + 1 tbsp water (for egg wash)
- Coarse sea salt (for sprinkling)
Instructions
- Activate the yeast: In a bowl, mix warm water and sugar, then stir in the yeast. Let sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
- Create the dough: In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and mix until a dough forms. Knead lightly until smooth.
- Let it rise: Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm area for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Shape bunnies: Punch down the dough, divide into small pieces, and roll into bunny shapes.
- Boil before baking: Preheat oven to 425°F. Bring water to boil, dissolve baking soda, and boil each bunny for about 30 seconds before placing on a baking sheet.
- Brush & bake: Brush with egg wash, sprinkle with coarse sea salt, and bake for 12-15 minutes until golden.
