  • 34 ripe bananas, sliced
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a saucepan, melt 1/4 cup of butter; stir in brown sugar until bubbly. Pour into the prepared pan.
  3. Arrange banana slices over the caramel layer.
  4. In a bowl, beat softened butter and granulated sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time and vanilla extract.
  5. In another bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually combine with wet ingredients until just mixed.
  6. Pour batter over bananas and bake for 40-45 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Let cool for five minutes before flipping onto a serving plate.
