Description

Char siu chicken is a delightful dish featuring tender, marinated chicken thighs coated in a sweet and savory glaze. Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 1/4 cup dark soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp rice wine or Shaoxing wine
  • 1 tsp five-spice powder
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced
  • Scallions for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together dark soy sauce, hoisin sauce, honey, rice wine, five-spice powder, garlic, and ginger until smooth.
  2. Place chicken thighs in a resealable bag or dish and pour the marinade over them. Seal and refrigerate for at least one hour or overnight.
  3. Preheat your grill to medium heat or oven to 400°F (200°C).
  4. Grill chicken for 6-7 minutes per side or bake on a lined baking sheet for 25-30 minutes until fully cooked.
  5. Brush additional marinade on during the last 5 minutes of cooking to create a sticky glaze.
  6. Let rest briefly before slicing and garnish with scallions. Serve over rice or noodles.
