- 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs
- 1/4 cup dark soy sauce
- 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
- 2 tbsp honey
- 2 tbsp rice wine or Shaoxing wine
- 1 tsp five-spice powder
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced
- Scallions for garnish
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together dark soy sauce, hoisin sauce, honey, rice wine, five-spice powder, garlic, and ginger until smooth.
- Place chicken thighs in a resealable bag or dish and pour the marinade over them. Seal and refrigerate for at least one hour or overnight.
- Preheat your grill to medium heat or oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Grill chicken for 6-7 minutes per side or bake on a lined baking sheet for 25-30 minutes until fully cooked.
- Brush additional marinade on during the last 5 minutes of cooking to create a sticky glaze.
- Let rest briefly before slicing and garnish with scallions. Serve over rice or noodles.
