Description

Korean Chicken Bao is a delightful fusion of soft bao buns filled with tender chicken marinated in a sweet and spicy gochujang sauce. Each bite bursts with flavor, making these baos perfect for casual dinners or special gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece fresh ginger, grated
  • 3 tbsp Korean gochujang sauce
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 8 bao buns (store-bought)
  • 4 scallions, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds (toasted)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Marinade: In a bowl, whisk together garlic, ginger, gochujang sauce, honey, and rice vinegar until smooth.
  2. Marinate the Chicken: Cut chicken into bite-sized pieces and coat with the marinade. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Cook the Chicken: Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook marinated chicken in batches for about 6-8 minutes until browned and cooked through.
  4. Steam the Bao Buns: Steam bao buns according to package instructions, usually around 5-7 minutes.
  5. Assemble Your Baos: Fill warm bao buns with cooked chicken, top with scallions, and sprinkle sesame seeds before serving.
