  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 2 Earl Grey tea bags
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a small saucepan, combine whole milk and Earl Grey tea bags. Heat over low for 10 minutes, then remove tea bags and let cool.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. In another bowl, sift together cake flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually mix into the butter-sugar mixture along with cooled tea-infused milk until just combined.
  5. Divide batter evenly between prepared pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Cool cakes in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks. For frosting, whip heavy cream and powdered sugar until soft peaks form; spread between layers.
